With more and more affordable cars being introduced with lower CO2 emissions, we’re certainly becoming more environmentally friendly. Not only can we help the environment by driving low emissions cars, we can also benefit from £35 road tax.
We hope that someday we’ll all be driving into the Hydrogen Station to fill up the tank of technology leading Honda Clarity. What was it that Clarkson said on Top Gear? That Honda may well have saved the world with this car? Indeed they may have. Time will tell.
Until then though, as a car dealership, we need to be conscientious about the effects our everyday actions have on the environment.
We are, for example, ensuring that everyone in the Phoenix team boils just enough water to make tea and coffee, for themselves and for their customers! We do little things like switching off lights when we leave a room and closing over doors to keep in heat.
Cardboard packaging, metal and plastics, are all stored in separate areas and returned for recycling.
Cutting down on paper…
We always use recycled or FSC paper (paper made from trees grown specifically for this purpose and where the trees knocked down are replaced again).
We can also try to cut down on the amount of paper we use.
This is why we are on a drive to collect as many customer email addresses and mobile numbers as we can. This will allow us to keep in touch with our customers via email and SMS.
So next time you visit the showroom, a member of the Phoenix team may hand you a paper slip. Simply complete your email and mobile details and hand it back to us. You can keep up to date with what’s happening at Phoenix and receive your MOT/Service Reminders via paperless communication.
Paint, chemical waste and the EPA
All of the paint we used is water based and therefore has no solvents. We also send all our waste thinners back to be recycled. With our paint supplier we have in place an Environmental Management programme, which involves a number of procedures and maintenance activities that we carry out to protect the environment, from spillage procedures to daily visual inspections of our emissions. In our last EPA audit we scored an impressive 98%.
