The latest Mazda2 has had a significant effect in lowering the average age of Mazda buyers. That’s according to Mark Cameron, Mazda UK’s marketing director who was speaking at the British International Motor Show
“The average age of buyers of the old Mazda2 was a rather worrying 62,” he acknowledged. “Already, thanks to the latest Mazda2 it's much lower, into the mid-50s, and to do that it takes a lot of much younger people to buy the car.” The 3-door version of the Mazda2, on sale for just a month, takes Mazda UK into uncharted territory.
"It's only been on sale for a month and at the moment it's taking 30% of Mazda2 sales. This will define the split for us which at the moment we expect to be around 50-50," says Cameron.
