Hyundai Santa Fe gets a facelift

The large SUV from Korean manufacturer Hyundai has been refreshed with a new design and a wealth of new technology. The new Santa Fe will be available in late 2015 and will offer buyers increased options for personalisation.

The previous Santa Fe is a large, capable car with athletic features that equip it for a life of adventuring. The new model offers contemporary detailing that ensures you will also stand out on city streets. Swept-back headlights add extra aggression to the Santa Fe’s expressive face and the grille has been updated to bring this model into line with other Hyundai models such as the Tucson. This new family look increases the distinctive character of the Hyundai family as a whole and it particularly suits the Santa Fe.

The standard specification of the Santa Fe is not changing dramatically, with a great selection of features already available. The entry-level model benefits from cruise control, parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen with satellite navigation. The new model adds a long list of optional extras to this suite of technologies. Autonomous emergency braking will be available along with blind spot monitoring and auto-dipping headlights. Alongside these safety features will be a 360-degree camera system to make parking easier.

The Santa Fe is exclusively available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine which develops 197bhp. This will remain the same in the new version, along with four-wheel drive. This system included Torque on Demand which directs power to all four wheels when the driving conditions demand it. This enhances grip and traction when venturing off road and reduces fuel consumption when you are driving comfortably on the road. Opt for the manual gearbox and the Santa Fe achieves 46.3mpg with CO2 emissions of just 161g/km.
